In 2021, Michaels—the largest arts and crafts specialty retailer in North America—relocated its headquarters to a newly renovated office at 3939 W. John Carpenter Freeway in Irving, Texas. The move, spearheaded by CEO Ashley Buchanan, marked a strategic shift during the height of the global pandemic and signaled a new chapter for the company, which had previously been headquartered in Brownsville, Wisconsin.

Spanning 220,000 square feet, the new space was designed to support a more collaborative, flexible, and future-forward work environment. Henricksen played a key role in the completion of the headquarters by providing and installing furniture solutions tailored to Michaels’ vision and workplace needs. In total, the project included 1,970 lineal feet of wall systems and a comprehensive furniture package to support both individual focus and team-based work.

Separately, in Milwaukee’s Harbor District, Michels Corporation—another major player in infrastructure and construction—moved into the top floors of an eight-story office building within their R1ver development. This new space, completed in 2021, reflects the company’s continued investment in growth and innovation.
